The Worst!

The rough draft is FINISHED! 106,000 of the most horribly put together words I've ever read in my life. It's so atrocious I hope to burn it as soon as possible and move on to draft two. But one must celebrate even the nauseating milestones in one's life!

  1. what what what did you write a BOOK?! What is it?

I can't even cope with how impressed and jealous I am. All I do all day is read books and write about books and occasionally make fun of the really bad ones that I don't know why we're publishing.

    1. At this stage "book" is a generous term. I'm one of the ones you'd make fun of your company for publishing. I started rereading it and it's like six books someone (er, me) tried to put into one and forgot there needed to be a setting. grargh.

    2. Still! I shouldn't even make fun of the bad ones because it's still way more than I've ever done. And I'm a big fan of your writing so I'm sure it's not as bad as you say it is.

    3. What a scary, wonderful offer! Be careful what you say because I'll take you up on that (I very badly need someone's editing and suggestions). . . but not yet. I'm not afflicted with false modesty - it really is terrible at this point and I couldn't take the shame without at least dealing with the greater Horrors. But when only the lesser Horrors are left, I will remember your brave offer.

    1. I like that you were there too - especially because I finished it, fell asleep, and woke up like some fatigued, struggling romantic author to announce "The first copy - it is finished!" and have someone there with whom I could share a celebratory dance.
